The House

Set in the glorious, historic market town of Burford, Greyhounds is the B&B that dreams are made of.

Less than a minute from the centre of this famous Cotswold town, where restaurants, pubs, hotels and boutique shops await, this quiet, serene haven is a sanctuary for weary travellers and tourists seeking quiet space for contemplation and relaxation.

From the moment you arrive, which is entirely at your convenience thanks to flexible arrival and departure times, you will feel the strains and stresses of life slip away as you enter the stunning courtyard hallway through an unobtrusive doorway which belies the treasures within.

As if stepping back in time, the courtyard itself is worthy of note:  semi indoors, partially open to the skies above, it is filled with antiques and vintage collections from walking canes and watering cans to merchant tea jars.  No space is left without something to remark upon, and the vista extends past the various entrances, doorways and overhanging foliage to the steps beyond, leading to a sunny, south facing garden where more adventures await.

The Gardens

The double doors open from Sheep Street through a wide archway which opens to a series of courtyards and an acre of tranquil gardens.

Steps lead you past collections of watering cans, a cleverly designed faux wood store cupboard and plentiful potted geraniums to the first courtyard garden which is filled with magnolias, wisteria and topiary.

The beautiful, rambling gardens continue past secluded herbaceous terraces where benches and garden chairs beckon. The gently sloping path leads past scented borders to an unexpected expanse of lawns from where you can view the rolling Cotswolds and the Windrush valley. There is an ancient mulberry tree, walnut tree and small orchard leading the way to a peaceful, private summerhouse furnished and complete with fireplace and lighting where books or games might be enjoyed on wetter days or a picnic lunch out of the sun during hot weather.

A gate in the top garden gives access to designated off road free parking. There is also free parking to the front of the property and along Sheep Street.
